Giyani’s Demonstration Plant, the largest of its kind outside of China, has been constructed in Johannesburg, South Africa, designed at a 1:10 engineering scale compared to the planned commercial facility in Botswana.

An integral part of the K.Hill Project, Giyani’s Demo Plant successfully produced High Purity Manganese Oxide (HPMO) in and High Purity Manganese Sulphate Monohydrate (HPMSM) in 2025 and has since shipped battery-grade manganese for offtaker testing.

Giyani’s bespoke processing technology that allows it to produce battery-grade manganese from manganese ore represents an unprecedented challenge to China’s downstream processing dominance, at a time of growing demand derived from EVs and ESS.

Giyani’s dual offering creates important technological optionality, positioning the company to serve the EV and ESS markets as industry requirements continue to evolve.
